were acquired, subjects reported more negative subjective effects, including ratings of “irritable” or “miserable” during the days following the smoking but not oral THC administration. The authors concluded that results were consistent with previous comparison studies of oral THC vs. smoked marijuana (Haney et al., 1999a, b; Wachtel et al., 2002) and that the behavioral profile associated with smoked marijuana is similar to the effects of oral THC, with some subtle differences. These findings are important when considering the results of individuals who smoke marijuana, which is the most common route of consumption.
