from the UKBioBank 148 identified anxiety‐related phenotypes, including reduced risk‐taking behavior and an increase in nervous feelings, as well as reduced number of lifetime sexual partners, that were associated with a GABRA2 coding variant (rs279858, C effect allele) that was associated with AUD in previous COGA research. 17 , 18 Follow‐up analyses revealed that these phenotypes were genetically correlated with each other and with alcohol‐ and smoking‐related phenotypes. 148 Future PheWAS analyses can leverage the unique aspects of COGA data, including the robust brain function data, to identify associations between genetic variants, alcohol traits, and brain phenotypes.
