In accordance, decreased HGP from glycerol was observed in fasted PPARα −/− mice [22]. However, opposite findings were reported by Xu et al. [20], including enhanced glycerol production, enhanced HGP from glycerol, and enhanced total HGP in 17-hour fasted PPARα −/− mice, which was suggested to occur as a compensating mechanism for the decreased HGP from lactate.
