Text

association study (GWAS) with a large sample size to estimate the effects of common genetic variants across the genome (Dudbridge, 2013). We focused on alcohol consumption genome-wide polygenic scores (alc-GPS) because the largest GWAS on alcohol-related phenotype to date was on alcohol consumption (drinks per week) conducted by the GWAS & Sequencing Consortium of Alcohol and Nicotine Use with about 1 million individuals (Liu et al., 2019), allowing us to calculate relatively reliable alc-GPS in our sample.
