The 1PL IRT measurement model could easily be extended to include discrimination parameters (‘‘factor loadings’’). It is most convenient to constrain these to be positive through the specification of lognormal priors where for instance α = exp(γ) and γ ∼ N(0, 100). In this case, the heritability estimate was not affected by this extension of the model (results not shown).
