Additionally, Bayesian methods have recently been proposed for genetic association studies [57–60]. These methods can be extended to combine association signals across SNPs and genes in the same pathway. For example, Stephens et al. [61] performed a SNP set analysis for the association between polymorphisms of the HNF1A gene and plasma C-reactive protein (CRP) concentration [62] using Bayesian regression approach.
