Special attention is given to the modulating effects of biological sex, fed state, reproductive status of women, and popular clinical interventions (e.g., gastric surgeries, medications) on alcohol metabolism, which in turn affect an individual’s risk for alcohol-related harm and alcohol use disorder (AUD).
