Recently, a correlation has been shown between small world network topology and cognitive functioning [44]. Moreover, changed network characteristics in brain tumour patients may be responsible for cognitive decline [45]. Cognitive deficits are also an important quality of life limiting factor in temporal lobe epilepsy patients [46]. The correlation between disturbed functional networks and lesional epilepsy should therefore be subject of future studies.
