The lack of smell identification deficits warrants further study, particularly about the role of specific standardized test or testing procedures for olfactory function (i.e., UPSIT vs. Sniffin’ Sticks; cf. also Atanasova et al., 2008). It would also be desirable to obtain a more complete screening of basic olfactory function, as the current study evaluated only odor thresholds and odor identification but not odor discrimination (cf. Rupp, 2010), particularly given evidence of odor discrimination deficits in CHR individuals (Kamath et al., 2011).
