There were clear differences in SUD comorbidity between the different geographic regions in this collaborative study (Table 5). All sites showed higher rates of comorbid SUD in men than in women. For men, SUD comorbidity was highest in Latinos living in the US (51%), lowest in Latinos from Mexico (23.3%), and intermediate in Latinos from Central America (31.9%). For women, SUD comorbidity was 27.3% in Latinas from the US, and very low in both Latinas from Mexico and Central America (3.4% and 3.5% respectively).
