Tissue was provided by NICHD Brain and Tissue Bank for Developmental Disorders and the University of California, Irvine Psychiatry Brain Donor Program. After obtaining informed consent from decedent next-of-kin, specimens with no known neuropsychiatric or neuropathological history were collected and underwent serology, toxicology and neuropathological screening, and testing for RNA quality (RNA integrity number >6). Tissue collection was approved by Institutional Review Boards of the Maryland Department of Health and Hygiene, University of Maryland Baltimore and University of California Irvine. Specimens for microarray profiling were a 24-year-old African American male (Brain 1), a 39-year-old African American male (Brain 2), and a 57-year old Caucasian male (Brain 3; Supplementary Table 1).
