Furthermore, underreporting of alcohol use and its behavioral consequences is common during court-ordered screening (Lapham et al., 2004). Testing the measurement characteristics of DSM criteria in individuals with histories of DUI, using data obtained outside a criminal justice setting, can contribute to the evaluation of screening instruments in this population.
