Started in 2004, the viral protein annotation program seeks to provide a detailed review on viral proteins from a representative subset of strains for each virus. For this purpose, we focused on the NCBI Reference Sequences (RefSeq) listed strains, which have the benefit of being both fully sequenced and representative.
