Providing external support for the validity and importance of these classes, membership in the impulsivity trajectory groups appeared to correspond meaningfully with changes in alcohol use and related outcomes. Taken together, these findings provide further support that impulsivity should be viewed as a dynamic construct and developmental covariate of alcohol involvement and, perhaps of utmost importance, establishes an empirical framework for further investigations into the determinants of factors influencing the developmental course of impulsivity across the life span.
