of +1.10 [+0.34–+1.86] (P = 9.14×10−4, one-tailed Z-test). The impact of the deletion in terms of BMI is made clear from comparison of the 4 carriers from NFBC1966 and the remainder of this cohort (mean BMI change = +5.8 kg.m−2 [+1.5–+10.8]; P = 3.53×10−3, one-tailed t-test). Thus, adult carriers of this deletion show an appreciable increase in BMI, but this is not necessarily sufficient for them to cross the threshold into clinical obesity.
