Alcohol transitions and psychopathology onsets were derived from the Semi-Structured Assessment for the Genetics of Alcoholism interview (SSAGA; Bucholz, Cadoret, & Cloninger, 1994), which was administered approximately every 2 years (4.19 ± 2.07 times over 7.36 ± 4.40 years) to assess alcohol and substance use, problems, and disorders, as well as other psychiatric disorders (Table 2).
