by the internal capsule. Compared to the differences between the DS and VS, the Cd and Pt appeared more similar. Indeed, cosine similarities between the striosome and matrix showed that striosome nuclei in the Cd were far more similar to striosome nuclei in the Pt, as opposed to matrix nuclei in the Cd (Figure 3H, p < 0.0001, Permutation test, STAR Methods). Nevertheless, archetypal analysis identified a gradient that showed an enhanced μ-opioid receptor (OPRM1) expression in the Cd (Figures 3I and 3J; Data S2). This archetype might highlight striosome-enriched nature of the Cd.
