To test blood potential, we differentiated multiple pluripotent stem cell clones into embryoid bodies (EBs), dissociated cells, and assayed for hematopoietic colony forming cells16. All pluripotent cells generated comparable EBs but markedly different numbers of hematopoietic colonies. Consistently, blood-derived B-iPSC yielded more hematopoietic colonies than F-iPSC (Fig. 2a). Hematopoietic colony formation from ntESC and fESC were higher than the iPSC lines.
