= 0.05) or controls (P < 0.05). There was no difference in the percentage of methylated clones between suicide victims without childhood abuse and controls (P > 0.05; Fig. 2a). Methylation was limited to specific sites, with no clone showing global methylation (Fig. 2b). There were no significant correlations between levels of exon 1F methylation and age at death (r = 0.15, P > 0.05), brain pH (r = 0.08, P > 0.05) or postmortem interval (PMI, r = 0.24, P > 0.05; Table 1).
