To further dissect the genetic architecture of the two subgroups, we investigated the PRS load for psychiatric disorders and traits showing strong genetic correlation with depression including anxiety, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, autism, ADHD, SUD, substance use and neuroticism (Supplementary Figure S16-1 and Supplementary Table S16A). The results showed an overall pattern of increased PRS among recurrent depression compared to single-episode case groups (P=0.00075), primarily driven by significantly different burdens of depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, and neuroticism PRS.
