Participants were 1,054 biological relatives of alcohol dependent probands who participated in the COGA project. Comparison participants (N = 234) without alcohol dependent biological parents were also included in the analyses. Additional information is provided in Table 1. Biological relatives of alcohol dependent probands were more likely to be non-high school graduates, χ2(1) = 47.65, p<.001, of lower income, χ2(2) = 8.46, p<.001, and African American, χ2(1) = 48.02, p<.001, than comparison participants.
