Text

Approximately 9% of people report having serious thoughts of suicide at some point in their lives and 3% actually make a suicide attempt.1, 2 Although most suicide attempts do not result in death, each attempt carries a chance of serious long-term physical injury, is associated with significant psychological suffering, and increases the likelihood of subsequent suicide attempts and death.3–5 As a result, the accurate prediction of suicide attempts is of critical importance to clinicians.
