associated with differences in subjective responses to alcohol, to our knowledge the functional effects of the allelic variants examined remain unknown. Therefore, the SNPs examined may be in LD with variation at other loci within the GABRA2 gene or genes in close proximity that are responsible for the effects observed in our study. Future research should examine additional polymorphisms within this gene cluster and aim to elucidate the potential mechanisms by which these variants influence the subjective responses to alcohol.
