both what general syndrome is present so that the appropriate broadband treatment can be applied (e.g., antibiotics, antivirals, or other medication), as well as what individual symptoms (e.g., fever) require in terms of focal treatment. Thus, information from both levels (i.e., both the individual symptoms, as well as how they cluster together) is important to understand and treat the disorder. A similar case can be made for psychopathological syndromes as well.
