Previous layer-fMRI CBV-weighted sequences could not capture more than 5–18 slices resulting in small field of views (6 – 12 cm), even when using anisotropic voxels (Guidi et al. 2016; Huber et al. 2020b; 2015; 2017; 2016; 2018). Recent developments in VASO readout strategies now allow substantial coverage improvements to capture functional connectivity in larger brain networks.
