Regional differences in sample characteristics were examined given possible variations across the three recruitment regions. We compared birth mother, birth father, adoptive mother, and adoptive father education level, income, and age by the three recruitment regions. Of the 33 comparisons, only 3 were significant (p < 0.05), and each showed a very small effect size. The ethnic distribution of participants was similar across regions. Taken together, these comparisons suggest the representativeness of the EGDS sample to the population from which it was drawn and the likely generalizability of results to families involved in domestic adoption placements throughout the country.
