Cigarettes smoked per day was the strongest predictor of treatment outcome, outperforming FTND scores and time to first cigarette. This finding is consistent with past research [33], and suggests that while cigarette consumption may represent a rather unsophisticated indicator of dependence it may nevertheless be amore sensitive measure than some of the most widely used indices.
