stable doses of antipsychotic and other medication for a minimum of three months before the baseline visit. Doses of antipsychotic and antidepressive drugs were calculated for defined daily dose (DDD) developed by the World Health Organization. Antidepressants were used as a supportive therapy [74] in 14 patients from the sarcosine group and 11 from the placebo group. The differences in the numbers of treated patients and doses in each group were not significant (p > 0.05). The severity of schizophrenia symptoms was assessed with the Positive and Negative Syndrome Scale (PANSS) [75].
