Parents were representative of the Minnesota population of the target birth years in education, socioeconomic status, and history of mental health treatment. Although the samples lack racial and ethnic diversity (96% Caucasian), they are sex balanced (52% female), cover a wide range of the socioeconomic spectrum, and include a mix of families living in urban (65%) and rural settings.21
