given locus, if there was a gene whose evidence score ≥ 4 and this gene’s score was > 20% higher than all other genes in the locus, it was ranked as a Tier 1 gene (greater likelihood of being the causal risk gene). Within a locus with a Tier 1 gene, other genes with scores between 20% and 50% lower than the Tier 1 gene were labeled as Tier 2. For loci without a Tier 1 gene, all genes with scores ≥ 4 that were within 50% of the leading gene were ranked as Tier 2.
