Subjects aged 18–60 years and of European white origin were recruited through general practices, advertisements and a web-site from Greater Manchester, UK (n = 1355) and through general practices and advertisements from Budapest, Hungary (n = 1003). All willing subjects were included who filled out the NewMood questionnaire pack, English or Hungarian version as appropriate, and provided DNA by using a genetic saliva sampling kit.
