A comprehensive review of all of the assessment procedures in Project MATCH can be found in the paper outlining the rationale and methods of the study (Project MATCH Research Group, 1993) and in subsequent papers (Project MATCH Research Group, 1997a, 1997b). In general, measures of matching and outcome variables were selected based on several desirable characteristics, including wide use, theoretical ties to study hypotheses, and acceptable psychometric characteristics (Connors et al., 1994).
