Text

In summary, our study has implicated miR-34a as a small ncRNA dysregulated in BD that regulates multiple known BD-linked genes and can affect the in vitro differentiation of human neurons. Further studies examining the regional expression and regulation of miR-34a-sensitive networks will provide critically needed insight into the pathogenesis of BD and may help elucidate new pathways for targeted therapeutic development.
