This retrieval effort yielded a final pool of 16 empirical studies that contained a total of 18 independent samples with a combined 3,207 participants. This is comparable to the earlier meta-analysis of Saulsman and Page (2004), which was based on the findings reported in 12 studies with 15 independent samples. Because a number of studies included more than one measure of the DSM personality disorders and/or the FFM, these samples provided a total of 38 unique correlation matrices, which compares well to the 18 correlation matrices included in Saulsman and Page. These studies and their sample characteristics are summarized in Table 1. For the domain level replication of Saulsman and Page (2004, 2005) all studies were included except for Huprich (2003), which did not report domain level data, and Dyce and O'Connor (1998). The Dyce and O'Connor data were excluded from this particular analysis so that the domain level estimates would be completely independent of that reported by Saulsman and Page.
