Each quality score, q, generated by the PGM base-caller is Phred-based, where q = −10×log10(p error). A quality score is assigned to each base using a pre-computed quality lookup-table distributed with each version of the PGM software. The lookup table uses six predictors of local quality, described elsewhere (Life Sciences Technical Note Version 2.0.1–2.20).
