The vast majority of fMRI applications use fMRI for functional localization of the brain regions engaged in specific sensory processing or cognitive functions [107]. FMRI as a brain mapping tool depends on experimental designs, data analysis methods and an explicitly or implicitly assumed relationship between BOLD signals and neural responses. Fig. 3 summarizes the principle of fMRI.
