In summary, recent investigations determined that 13q14 contains two cooperating tumor suppressors, miR-15/16 and DLEU7. miR-15/16 deletions result a constitutive increase of Bcl2 expression, DLEU7 inactivation causes induction of TNF signaling through TRAFs. Intriguingly, these two events cause CLL phenotype closely resembling oncogenic events in TRAF2DN/BCL2 transgenic mouse model (see below) [20].
