including 4 cadherin and 18 protocadherin genes. Previous studies have implicated Cdh11, Cdh12, Cdh13, Cdh19 Pchha9 and Pcdh15 in alcoholism or preference (Edenberg et al. 2010; Liu et al. 2009; Lydall et al. 2011; Mulligan et al. 2006; Sokolov et al. 2003; Treutlein et al. 2009). However, the data presented here suggest very broad effects on the protocadherins. It is interesting to speculate that this broad effect in part is the result of selection effects on the non-coding RNA, Gm26672, a hub in the lightcyan module and antisense to a large cluster of the affected protocadherins. More generally, the data presented here are the first to show that preference selection has significant effects on several non-coding RNA hub nodes.
