Internalizing problems were assessed via maternal ratings using the well-validated Development and Well-Being Assessment (DAWBA). Computer-generated diagnostic ‘probability bands’ for anxiety and depression (six-level ordered-categorical variables ranging from <0.1% to >70% probability of DSM-IV psychiatric diagnosis) were averaged to create an interval level composite score.
