Many of these withdrawal features are also noted subsequent to tobacco cessation, which has led to direct comparisons of these withdrawal syndromes (110-112). While the number of withdrawal symptoms and the symptoms themselves are equally reported across both syndromes, those experiencing cannabis withdrawal are more likely to report irritability and decreased appetite while those experiencing tobacco withdrawal are more likely to report appetite increase and craving. Importantly, the subjective experience of withdrawal severity appears comparable for both drugs, as are reports of withdrawal impeding successful cessation (112).
