ability to right themselves (i.e. stand up) in the continuous presence of ethanol vapor from the Flug. We designed our ethanol sedation assay to test multiple replicates of several genotypes in parallel (Figure S3B). Each vial of flies corresponded to n=1 and we found that an individual experimenter can readily test 24 vials simultaneously in a single experiment using this design. Testing more than 24 vials simultaneously certainly seemed possible assuming minor modifications, but we have not pursued this possibility.
