The influence of genetic variants on miRNA expression has recently been reported in a study of miRNA expression in human fibroblasts [20], where 12 cis miRNA eQTLs were reported as significant, out of the 121 miRNAs tested (N = 180), motivating us to assess if genetic drivers of miRNA expression will also be present in adipose tissue.
