We are concerned about and interested in this problem, and future research will seek to improve minority family engagement. However, it is worth noting that despite this statistical trend, in general engagement in the FCU was quite high across all demographic groups in this study. In another project, when we were able to match the ethnicity of the parents with that of our parent consultants, we increased engagement from 25% observed in a previous project to 50% (Stormshak et al., 2010).
