Lastly, cocaine dependence was the most prevalent comorbid SUD in this sample. Co-abuse of opioids and cocaine can increase drug-related adverse effects and poses a unique treatment challenge (Leri et al., 2003; Mello and Negus, 2007). These data suggest that taking large amounts and inability to cut down are useful items for detecting patients with cocaine use disorders to facilitate treatment management.
