More research addressing the psychological mediation framework is needed, but preliminary evidence for its predictive validity is converging across several different sampling frames, designs, developmental periods, and outcomes. Given the diversity of these findings, it appears that this integrative framework offers a potentially fertile research paradigm for future inquiry on LGB mental health disparities. Ultimately, it is anticipated that this information can be used in the development of prevention and intervention programs that seek to decrease the incidence and prevalence of psychopathology within this vulnerable population.
