CADM2 has also been associated with cognitive phenotypes, including educational attainment (51, 52). We therefore hypothesize that genetic variation at CADM2 may underlie a latent personality trait or risk factor that predisposes individuals to engage in risky actions (i.e. drinking behaviors).
