The global analyses on these 16,008 genes have been previously reported [1]. Gene expression changes detected by RNA-Seq were validated by quantitative RT-PCR for 11 transcripts in samples from eight controls and eight cocaine addicts. There was a strong correlation (R2 = 0.90) between the RNA-Seq and quantitative RT-PCR measurement indicating overall reliability of the RNA-Seq results [1].
