Harmon-Jones & Allen, 1998). Additional evidence in support of this argument of anger as a moderator of frontal brain asymmetry are findings demonstrating that boys without oppositional defiant disorder display relatively less left frontal EEG activity, consistent with the EEG asymmetry pattern exhibited by MDD- men in the present study, whereas oppositional-defiant boys (who had higher rates of depression than healthy boys) demonstrated no asymmetry (Baving, Laucht, & Schmidt, 2000). Therefore, limited research supports the assertion that anger and related aggressive behaviors may influence patterns of frontal brain activity differently in depressed and non-depressed men.
