We designed EAGLE knowing that much of its value would arise from involvement with other investigators, individually and within consortia. EAGLE is already part of the International Lung Cancer Consortium (ILCCO) [23] and is open for collaboration with interested investigators. Given the population-based design, the rigorous enrollment and quality control strategies, the high response rate in both lung cancer cases and controls, the detailed epidemiological data, the excellent quality of clinical information and diagnostic procedures, and the ever-growing collection of molecular data, EAGLE will provide a superb framework for diverse studies and collaborative efforts, of which those listed above are just initial examples.
