Figure 2B shows that for this patient all four entorhinal contacts exhibit relatively high mutual synchrony (upper left 4 × 4 quadrants) as do all six hippocampal contacts (lower right 6 × 6 quadrants). The level of synchrony between these two structures, i.e., between entorhinal and hippocampal contacts, is distinctly lower (upper right and lower left 4 × 6 regions). This difference between intra- and inter-regional synchrony is discernible in all frequency bands but is most pronounced for the theta band in this particular patient.
